Chicago, IL, June 17, 2022 — Urban Alliance, a national nonprofit that connects high school students to equitable inclusive careers through paid experiences, mentorship, and professional development celebrated its most recent Obama Youth Jobs Corps program graduates and commemorated five years of partnership with the Obama Foundation.

“Urban Alliance has been able to collectively support our students through so many important and monumental moments in their lives, especially during the last two challenging years due to the pandemic,” said Abiodun Durojaye, Executive Director of Urban Alliance-Chicago. “This celebration of UA’s Obama Youth Jobs Corp (OYJC) recognizes the resilience, hard work and commitment of our students who are graduating from the program. I am grateful to the Obama Foundation for this extraordinary partnership.”

Sixty-four (64) students from Dyett School for the Arts, Hyde Park Academy, Phillips Academy, Kenwood Academy, King College Prep, and Urban Prep Bronzeville, graduated from this cohort of the Urban Alliance Obama Youth Jobs Corps. All students will receive an award of completion and the senior students now become part of UA’s flagship High School Internship Program (HSIP).

Urban Alliance partnered with the Obama Foundation in 2017 to create the Obama Youth Jobs Corps. We work closely in partnership with various communities and neighborhood schools throughout Chicago including the Southside, Southwest, Southeast, and Westside with the support of signature partners, Bank of America, Hyatt, and KPMG.

“Our partnership with Urban Alliance is one rooted in hope and fueled by the differences we’ve seen these young people make in their communities,” said Chris Crater, Senior Associate at My Brothers Keeper Alliance Obama Foundation, “It’s programs like the Obama Youth Jobs Corps that are equipping young people with tangible skills and making lasting change.”
