Former President Obama surprised graduated high school seniors at the Obama Foundation on Tuesday by dropping in on a meeting of Urban Alliance interns.

Video posted by the foundation showed the group’s shocked reaction to the former president walking in on their meeting.

The students in the video received their internships at the Urban Alliance as part of a partnership with the Obama Foundation, called the Obama Youth Jobs Corps.

“As you guys know, part of the goal of this program is to expose you to what’s possible, also to make sure you recognize that even as you succeed, the communities from which you come are going to need you to be active and engaged and focused,” the former president told students in the video.

He went on to praise the students as “good role models” for their generation.

A section of the Urban Alliance’s websites states that the students serving internships through the Obama Foundation will experience “workforce readiness training and early, meaningful work experience at businesses” throughout the city of Chicago.
