Star Plus One Summer Program Success

A Success Story
(As published by the DC Police Foundation)

This summer, the DC Police Foundation implemented a new program, Stars Plus One, for DC high school students. In partnership with Urban Alliance and MPD, we were able to place 20 students in high-end internships matching their interests and field of study. The interns reported to their workplace four days a week for six weeks and attended a group workshop on Fridays, which focused on career skills.

The DC Police Foundation sponsored each intern at an hourly wage of $10.00, which was at no cost to the employer. We held pre-sessions for the students and the employers to meet and to be better prepared for working in an office environment.

We would like to thank all of our employers who participated in the Stars Plus One program. With the help of these organizations, our students walked away from the program with the confidence and a mission to achieve their own career goal.
