Impact

Darren Walker President, Ford Foundation For countless Americans, me among them, internships have provided a foothold on the path to the American dream. Simply by making them more accessible to all, we can narrow the inequality gap while widening the circle of opportunity.

Pathways to Opportunity

With over 20 years of experience, Urban Alliance has proven that early employment, coupled with positive adult mentoring, professional development and workforce readiness training, competitive hourly pay, and ongoing guidance and support, can change a young person's trajectory.

Internships make a real difference.

Secondary Education

80% of all program alumni enroll in a two- or four-year college.

All young people who participate are supported in pathways to further their education.  As the number of young women who attend college has increased, Urban Alliance's results show that we're also closing the gender gap and increasing the likelihood of young men enrolling in college.

Employment

80% of alumni connect to work or education pathways that lead to economic success within one year post-program.

Economic opportunity increases when young people participate in a professional internship through Urban Alliance. Early employment experiences opens the door to future success by putting young people on a pathway to economic advancement.

Investment for Growth

Investment for Growth

When the U.S. Department of Education was looking to expand investment as part of their Innovation Fund (i3) program, they looked for programs that had clearly demonstrated impact.  Urban Alliance was awarded a five-year grant to further evaluate our programs; expand work in our first four regions and expand our proven model to a fifth jurisdiction, Detroit.  Urban Alliance was selected out of a pool of more than 400 applicants. Urban Alliance is committed to ensuring the highest return on investment for our partners and the youth in our programs.
