DC Public Schools Chancellor, Kaya Henderson, met with Urban Alliance staff and alumni on Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at the Urban Alliance headquarters in Washington, DC. Five DC program alumni participated in a panel discussion about the impact an Urban Alliance internship had on their education and career readiness.
Savon Montague, a 2015 alumnus of the High School Internship Program and Woodson Senior High School, reflected that Urban Alliance created a “safe space” for him to present both his strengths and weaknesses and grow as a professional. As a current employee at Public Allies, Savon remarked that he now has the opportunity to create a safe space for other youth.
