April 7, 2014, Baltimore, MD — Urban Alliance Baltimore was selected by the Baltimore City Youth Commission as one of the recipients for the “We Are the Dream” Award for its commitment to empowering youth throughout Baltimore City. The award was presented by the Honorable Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake during the April 4th ceremony at City Hall.
Urban Alliance Baltimore has provided professional, paid internships to youth since 2008 serving more than ten Baltimore City public and charter schools as well as foster care youth through the Department of Social Services. Cody Dorsey, Chairman of the Baltimore city Youth Commission and Urban Alliance Intern said that, “the Youth Commission’s awards ceremony allows us to recognize people and organizations that make outstanding contributions to building a stronger, better, and safer Baltimore.”
“It is truly an honor to be acknowledged among many other youth-serving organizations in Baltimore and even more exciting to be presented the award by one of our own interns” said Catherine Estevez, Executive Director of Urban Alliance Baltimore.
